Biography:
Downshift has been a veteran in the DJ booth since the early 2000s, his musical journey started in a dark basement of a local Edmonton record shop, lacing together techno grooves on an old set of vinyl turntables and a dusty mixing console. From there, he made his way through the underground club scene, holding residencies at popular after-hours spots and playing at parties all around Western Canada.
Downshift’s sound developed throughout the last 2 decades, incorporating many styles of electronic music whilst producing original tracks. Gravitating to a stripped-down, thumping, mid speed style of techno, Downshift’s sets are never pre-planned. Rather, they are in the moment, taking the listener on a melodic escape, with his mixing style rooted in those early fundamentals. With a natural and hypnotic ability, Downshift is able to tune in to the vibrations of the dancefloor with ease, keeping the crowd engaged and lost at the same time.
