Biography:
Joe Silva is an electronic music producer and DJ who began writing music in his early teens. Combined with his obsession for electronics, he eventually discovered the strange world of synthesizers and it was love at first sight.
Releasing under the name They Never Sleep, his first EP was in the vein of ‘new wave.’ It wasn’t until a stint of early ’90s clubbing in Europe that he cemented his love for house music and he hasn’t looked back since.
His productions have found their way onto labels like Stickman, Viva!, Red Melon, Guesthouse, Tango, Moonlight and Nordic Trax.
Collaborating with Ali Khan as “Tonepushers” has led to live performances at Mutek and MEME festivals, remix work and releases on Slush, Fade, Pink Silver, Thoughtless, Substation, Lucidflow and Sneja. In the mid-nineties, Joe started his vinyl imprint, Purespace Recordings and began DJ’ing parties and events.
In the early 2000’s he was part of the Lustre crew. Joe also held residencies at The Blue Agave, The Horseshoe Cabaret, The Bank, The Avenue and Bar Italia, among others. His releases led to gigs in San Francisco, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver and a six city DJ tour of Brazil. He’s played multiple times at Connect, MEME, Emotion Festival, Bring Your Love Festival and has DJ’ed a mini tour in Australia.
Still DJ’ing and releasing music and remixes on his own and other labels, he is constantly improving his skills and refining his sound. For Joe, music is a life-long passion and the best is yet to come!
